Halloween Brownies with Marshmallow Cobwebs — Spooky, Easy, and Delicious
When Halloween rolls around, I find myself getting genuinely excited — the kids' costumes, the decorations, and of course, the treats. This year I made Chocolate Brownies topped with ooey gooey marshmallow cobwebs and candy eyeballs, and they were an absolute hit.
I'm not going to lie — this is going to get a little messy, especially if you're getting the kids involved with the marshmallow cobwebs. But that's exactly what it's all about. Making memories in the kitchen, having fun, and creating something spooky and delicious together. I am absolutely not going to judge if you pour yourself a glass of something while you're at it. It does help with cleaning up afterwards.
What You'll Need
- 1 x Flour and Dough Chewy Chocolate Brownie Mix (or Fudgy Blondie Mix — both work perfectly)
- A handful of white marshmallows
- Ghoulish decorations — candy eyes, sour worms, gummy fingers, cookie crumbs, or whatever spooky lollies you can find
That's it. No long ingredient list, no complicated steps — just a bit of sticky hands and a lot of fun.
Method
- Mix and bake your Chewy Chocolate Brownie Mix as per the instructions on the packet.
- Allow to cool completely before decorating — do not cut yet.
- Place a handful of marshmallows in a heatproof bowl and microwave for 30 seconds until melted and gooey.
- Once cool enough to touch, squish the melted marshmallow between all your fingertips. Pull your fingers and hands apart slowly to create sticky, stretchy cobwebs.
- Drape the marshmallow cobwebs over the brownie slab and repeat until you have the desired amount of web coverage.
- Add your ghoulish decorations — candy eyes, sour worms, gummy fingers, cookie crumb "dirt" — whatever your Halloween heart desires.
- Cut into squares, rectangles, or whatever shape fits your vision and serve!
Tips
- Work quickly with the marshmallow — it sets fast as it cools. Have your decorations ready to go before you start the cobweb step.
- Get the kids involved — the marshmallow cobweb step is genuinely the most fun part and little hands are perfect for it. Embrace the mess!
- Fudgy Blondie Mix works just as well if you want a lighter coloured base — the cobwebs and decorations look equally spooky on a blondie slab.
- Warming up leftovers — a quick burst in the microwave works perfectly, but be mindful of any lolly decorations on top that might melt.
Serving Ideas
Cut the slab into squares or rectangles and arrange on a platter for a Halloween party spread. You can also cut into fingers or irregular shapes for extra spookiness. Pair with the Halloween Cookie recipe for a full ghoulish dessert table.
Storage
Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days — if they last that long!
